Tree Top country, in my opinion, is the ideal destination for volunteers looking to make the most of there time in the north of Thailand. I have previous expierence volunteering through an organization that left me feeling as if I wanted to continue my travels solo, this was not so at Treetop.
During my time at Treetop I felt apart of a family largely due to all of the friends and neighbors that welcomed us and brightened our stay during our time at Treetop. The staff was an enormous part of what made volunteering so great, Avner my volunteer coordinator made me feel comfortable teaching at the schools right away and emitted contagious positive energy. I have no doubt the new coordinators Josh and Taylor will pick up where he left off as they share the same passion and contagious positivity as Avner.
Not only is Treetop a well run organization but the schools they partner with and the local community are also incredibly receptive of volunteers creating a positive “volunteer ecosystem” in the area surrounding Treetop free of the touristy vibe of the city.
I saw many volunteers come and go in my time at Treetop and at the end they were all thinking “do I really have to go? When will I be back?” The expierence at Treetop is not a casual one, you will be made to feel like a part of the family and that will make leaving incredibly difficult. The kids will steal your heart, Sasi will fill your belly, your fellow volunteers will pour you a drink and a part of you will be left behind in Thailand. I’m already planning my return trip to the Treetop family.
